Alcyone And Ceyx
In Greek mythology, Alcyone (or dubiously Halcyone) (; ) and Ceyx (; ) were a wife and husband who incurred the wrath of the god Zeus for their romantic hubris. Etymology Alkyóne comes from alkyón (), which refers to a sea-bird with a mournful song or to a Common kingfisher, kingfisher bird in particular. The meaning(s) of the words is uncertain because ''alkyón'' is considered to be of pre-Greek language, Greek, non-Proto-Indo-European language, Indo-European origin. However, folk etymology related them to the ''háls'' (, "brine, sea, salt") and ''kyéo'' (, "I conceive"). Alkyóne originally is written with a smooth breathing mark, but this false origin beginning with a rough breathing mark (transliterated as the letter H) led to the common misspellings ''halkyón'' () and ''Halkyóne'' (), and thus the name of one of the kingfisher bird genus' in English Halcyon (genus), Halcyon. It is also speculated that Alkyóne is derived from ''alké'' (, "prowess, battle, guard") ...

It is the last studio album to feature co-founder and guitarist Kevin Allen. Design Album art for ''The Century of Self'' was done entirely in blue ballpoint pen by singer Conrad Keely. Recording In his book ''I Am the Wolf: Lyrics & Writings'', Lanegan writes he traveled to Houston in 2002 "to fulfill a publishing contract I had signed with an old friend, producer and label head Randall Jamail, a talented man who took no shit from anyone and who would not have been pleased if he knew the honest state of my unprepared and unraveling songcraft, such as it was." Lanegan wrote many of the songs in the parking lot on the spot as the band overdubbed in the studio. As he recalls in ''I Am the Wolf'': Mark Deming of AllMusic: "The arrangements are full-bodied but leave plenty of open space, which suits the dusty ov ...

The Spring Standards
The Spring Standards is a three-piece folk-rock band based in New York City. Biography James Cleare, Heather Robb, and James Smith first sang together in the last summer of the 20th century. Having just turned 16, the three teens with a common affinity for "oldies" music and harmony spent the next two years performing in the Delaware/Pennsylvania area. Influenced as much by their parent's record collections as they were by what they heard on the radio, their style began to form. The group dissolved after they graduated. Living near each other in NYC, they picked up where they had left off years earlier. Cleare, Robb, and, Smith are all songwriters and multi-instrumentalists. They create a sound that listeners might expect from a band twice their size. With an emphasis on 3-part harmony and instrumental switching, their range, and energy onstage make each live show a unique event. Before they were The Spring Standards, all three members were in Old Springs Pike along with ...
